Knits at Fitz was formed by our Trustee Janet in 2019. It aims to provide a weekly social craft gathering for anyone interested, held 1.30 - 3.30 every Wednesday at Mr Fitzpatrick's Temperance Bar in Rawtenstall.
The group welcomes all crafters of any ability. Usually we either knit or crochet, with helpful and friendly advice if needed.
A donation of £1 is welcome to cover costs of providing wool to our outreach members who make traffic light hats for babies at the Royal Oldham Hospital maternity department.
Please join our Facebook page, Knits at Fitz for further details, or contact Janet O'Driscoll on 07725 892900
The Big Crochet
The Big Crochet brings together people who love to crochet or who want to learn to crochet. We meet at The Whitaker every month and enjoy chatting together and making all kinds of wonderful chrocheted items!

We have just finished working on a BIG crochet project! Working with The Whitaker, we have produced a modern day version of the Stained Glass Window that is on display in the Past, Present and Future rooms on the First Floor of the Museum. The window was taken from the old Haslingden Grammar school before it was demolished and is quite a work of art in itself.
The aim was to create ‘Granny Square’ tiles with motifs representing modern day life and Rossendale features. Designs have been suggested by visitors to The Whitaker, some very interesting motifs were drawn!
The finished stained glass window now hangs proudly in the Whitaker.
