Our Beacon Carers' Group originally came together as part of our Dementia Carers' Café pilot in 2020. This was interrupted by the Pandemic lockdown, but our trustee Rachel facilitated the running of the group virtually. The group have grown from strength to strength and now meets virtually via Zoom and also at The Whitaker.
The group is specifically run for those Carers who care for someone living with dementia.
Carers have a tough time and the Carers' Cafes aims to provide social time with other carers who may be experiencing similar challenges, or who can offer advice or tips.
Each meeting has a theme and provides information, which we hope will be useful, together with time for socialising.
The Carers' Group is run by our Trustee Rachel Yates Hoyles, who has many years of experience working with and improving the lives of people living with dementia and their carers.
The Carers' Group is free to attend. Please see our What's On page for dates.
Carers who attend our Group have produced a Rossendale Dementia Carers' Strategy and a Carers' resource to help others who may be trying to gain support or information about caring for a person living with dementia.
