Activities

Some highlights from previous activities

Music, Movement and Thank yous!

We had a great afternoon at the Whitaker, as we welcomed Rebecca from Inspire, Motivate, Transform, who ran a gentle exercise to music session. There was some singing as well, which brought lots of smiles.

We also presented two of our wonderful volunteers with certificates to thank them for their service over the last 7 years of Beacon.

Pine cone turkeys!

We had fun and lots of laughter at our November Whitaker activity group, making turkeys from pine cones, felt and feathers. This was a great activity for reminiscing about times past and our participants created some wonderful turkeys.

Live Theatre

Our Activity Group and Carers’ Group came together to welcome Goofus Theatre, who performed `There's A Memory Somewhere' - a non-verbal story of journey & discovery told with music, puppetry & play. We really enjoyed the production, where table top puppet Abigail discovers a strange world where objects came alive, friendships were found & connections from the strangest of places were discovered.

We were able to look at the puppets after the production, including Abigail, the duck and ‘Grandad’, who was a much larger puppet, and find out about how they are used.

In customary fashion, we rounded the afternoon off with brews and cake.

Bird Feeders

We had great fun making birdfeeders from cardboard tubes, peanut butter, jam and bird seed. It was a bit messy, but there was lots of great conversation and laughter! Our Carers' Group were visited by Anne from In Mind Therapies who kindly shared her therapy room wellbeing tips on reframing our thoughts, recognising our feelings and learning to live in the moment.

Plenty of chat over brews and biscuits to finish.
